The 2018 Winter Olympics
The Olympic Games are split into two contests — both the Winter Olympics as well as the Summer Olympics. Both occur every four years, with two years between them. The Winter Olympics is the smaller of these 2 contests, but it still features a number of different sports and events.

In the past several years sports are added to the program. Included in these are some other kinds of skiing and skating, snowboarding, and skeleton (a kind of sledding).
The introduction of more sports has helped to expand the appeal of the Winter Olympics. They had been traditionally of interest mostly in North America and Europe, as most of the competing athletes came from such regions.

Each Winter Olympics is held in a different host city. To date, they’ve been held in eleven states. The United States has been home to the competition more times than any other country (4), most recently back in 2002.
The Winter Olympics were held in Sochi, Russia. The next are to be held in PyeongChang County, South Korea, in February of this year. Though they hosted the Summer Olympics in 1988 this is South Korea’s first Winter Olympics.
