Team USA were forced into a late change after Stacy Lewis was ruled out with a back injury.
After aggravating her problem on Monday afternoon, has been replaced by Ally McDonald.
The 34-year-old had been having treatment for the injury after it warms up during the Cambia Portland Classic two weeks ago and, although she was passed fit to take her spot on the group, the disease returned on the opening day of practice.
Lewis, who was set to create her Solheim Cup appearance, was seen while being consoled by Inkster and a number of her team-mates, and she will remain at Gleneagles to encourage her team from the sidelines.
“Stacy is one of the fiercest competitors I have ever met. I understand this was an incredibly hard choice for her, however, she has the team’s best interests in mind,” said Inkster.
“Stacy will remain with Team USA over the following week and will nevertheless be an incredible asset for our team. But when I had to opt for an alternate, I knew Ally will be able to measure up to the challenge. She has got a cool mind but a fiery spirit. I know she’ll bring her very best to Team USA.”
A psychological Lewis added:”I’m extremely disappointed to not have the ability to play. I had a back injury flare up previous week and I wish to play , although I’m a competitor. I’ve done everything I could do within the week to be ready to perform .
“For my health and everything I feel is in the best interest of the group, I decided to take myself out. I will have a different role with the group and will do whatever I could to help Team USA bring the Cup home.”
McDonald had been because the primary alternative, and she’ll become the most demanding Solheim Cup newcomer on the team that was visiting.
“I didn’t wish to create the team this way, however if Juli told me exactly what was going on with Stacy, I was ready to step into either role, if that was here and being a part of this experience or being prepared to tee it up,” said McDonald.
“It was only emotionally preparing for either situation. I’m obviously quite excited to perform . This is a objective of mine to play this group.”
The change is very similar to that of Europe from the previous competition a couple of decades ago, when vice-captain Catriona Matthew had to step in as a participant when Suzann Pettersen was ruled out with a issue.
