La Liga president Javier Tebas considers Neymar”will retire at PSG unless he lowers his salary” after talks broke down over his planned return to Barcelona.
The Catalan club and Real Madrid were interested in bringing back the into Spain the summer, but prior to the transfer deadline that was European, Neymar rather agreed to stay in the Parc des Princes.
The 27-year-old, that remains the planet’s most expensive footballer after his # 1 200m ($222) move in 2017, is under contract in PSG before 2022.
“In light of the current marketplace, Neymar will retire at PSG unless he lowers his salary and also his PSG asserts,” Tebas explained.
“The issue of coming back today [into Barcelona] has to do with his own death to PSG.
“It had been an off-market move, it was just possible to happen with’traps’ to increase sponsorships.
“When you take action out of the marketplace, it’s not possible to sell again at this price.”
Brazil boss Tite has verified the forward is in contention for choice ahead of the side’s friendly against Colombia on Friday evening despite not playing a game for PSG this year.
Neymar suffered an injury at Brazil’s 2-0 friendly victory earlier this season, which was the last time he performed in a competitive fixture.
