Legend, motivational, larger than life – only a few of the words used to characterize Sir Ian Botham.
Botham bagged 383 wickets and believed 5,200 runs in 102 Tests but his own character and swagger proved equally inspirational, epitomised at Headingley.
That series spawned a generation of cricketers who wanted to be just like’Beefy’, including Dominic Cork, therefore we sent him to monitor more former cricketers who tried to measure into the shoes of Botham and asked them.
Click the video over to see contributions from England Ben Stokes, Chris Lewis, Phillip DeFreitas, Craig White and also Derek Pringle, who produced a Headingley miracle of his very own!
Topics discussed at the movie contain….
– The way the transition was managed by players from seeing Botham because their hero to becoming his team-mate – and even his room-mate!
– The problems of coping with being compared on the pitch to Beefy and being judged by his standards
– Why we are unlikely to see another all-rounder from Botham’s mold, and Stokes contrasts with bat and ball
