Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has admitted he is not hoping to complete his career and has opened the doorway to a possible move to the MLS.
The 32-year-old has begun his season with the north London club and has left on his current deal.
But speaking to French magazine France Football, Lloris demonstrated he doesn’t expect to retire at Spurs and is offered to a move.
“I don’t think I will finish [my career] in Tottenham,” he said.
“I still have a few years before me. I will do everything to make the most of it. I am not against the notion of finding something new, although you also have to know when to say stop at the ideal time.
“That could be the USA. I do not know, I always had trouble. I’m more focused on the short term.
“In soccer, things move so fast. We are here tomorrow and after that we’re elsewhere. You need to be mindful. I could complete around [MLS], we will see.”
Lloris has made over 300 appearances for Tottenham and says the temptation has been easy to resist so much, largely because of Mauricio Pochettino.
“I never really started the doors [into the idea of earning Tottenham] since I felt like I was really happy where I was,” he explained.
“It’s not a lack of ambition on my part, it is just that I am part of a project and, every year I’ve seen the improvement to reinforce my decision. If tomorrow I felt there was a regression, certainly I’d then ask the question [about departing ].
“[Pochettino] has got the perfect profile [to get a big club]. He has shown a lot of loyalty. He has invested 200 per cent at the team and its fans.
“I have a strong relationship with himon a human level too. And that does not distort the relationship at all. The difference is made by us [collectively ]. I like his soccer thoughts, I like his character. I am proud to be part of his group.
“I will tell the difference between the condition of the club the day that I came and now. The team has developed at an unbelievable speed.”
Lloris can lead Tottenham out in their Champions League match on Wednesday against Olympiakos.
