New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees didn’t return and left the loss of Sunday in the first quarter with a right thumb injury.
“Right off when he attempted to throw, he was having pain with it. It was not anything fancy,” coach Sean Payton stated in his post-game media conference.
“We’ll give you an upgrade when the time is ”
Payton said Brees didn’t have X-rays at halftime but suggested it would take a few days of testing before the team has an update.
Teddy Bridgewater entered remaining in the initial quarter. He went 17 of 30.
Before leaving brees opened the game three to five five for 38 yards and an interception.
He came out of the locker room after halftime with all the tape off of his hands and with a helmet , but didn’t enter then was retaped.
The 40-year-old has missed 1 game since joining the Saints in 2006, that came due to a shoulder issue in 2015 due to injury.
He’s missed only two other contests of a potential 210 using all the Saints, while resting together with the group’s playoff position in Week 17 protected.
The Rams will seek out a third successive win when they visit Cleveland (0-1) on Sunday night (1.20am) and Week Four will see them host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the LA Coliseum (9.05pm).
New Orleans, with or without Brees, travel to Seattle (2-0) next Sunday (9.25pm) as they look to come back to winning ways and then in Week Four host the Dallas Cowboys at a blockbuster-looking Sunday Night Football (1.20am).
Week Two finishes on Monday night
