Russias Artur Beterbiev unified the heavyweight division in Philadelphia with a stoppage of Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
The 34-year-old knocked on his opponent that was Ukrainian down three times in the round before the contest was stopped by referee Gary Rosato with 11 minutes left.
Beterbiev defended his International Boxing Federation crown and also seized Gvozdyks World Boxing Council belt.
This was the first world title bout because fighter Patrick Day died on Wednesday.
After being pumped out by Charles Conwell at Chicago last weekend, super welterweight Day, that suffered a brain injury, was honoured before the main event with a salute.
Beterbiev, who trains in Montreal, Canada, now has 15 wins from 15 specialist struggles after defeating his formerly unbeaten rival at the Liacouras Center.
His next battle is going to be a mandatory defence the Meng Fanlong of China, against another fighter.
