Andy Murray thinks he will go back to the amount of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer again.
The former world # 1 fell down into the Challenger Tour – for the first time in 14 years – in Mallorca a month, in which he won the first two games of his comeback to singles.
Murray, who underwent hip surgery has signed to compete on the ATP Tour at a series of tournaments in China, including the Shanghai Pros of next month.
The Scot explains his very own current benchmark as”around planet No 150″ and states patience will be important if he is to be back competing alongside world No 1 Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, who won his 19th Grand Slam title at the US Open.
“For many years, obviously, I competed from themalthough I haven’t won each time . I have lost more than I’ve won [but] .
“I really don’t know if I’d enjoy going out to the court knowing that I am likely to shed or feeling as if I’d no chance!
“That will most likely be emotionally rather challenging for me personally. But perhaps in five or four months, I can get there. I need to be patient and not expect too much too soon.
“But in terms of how I am hitting the ball in training, that’s still there. The skill is still there, I only physically have to have a bit better and hopefully over the years I get a little bit quicker and I think I will.”
Meanwhile, the Murray wants to be part of the Great Britain Davis Cup chosen in Madrid for the Finals of this year, in November 18-24, where they are attracted into an organization alongside Netherlands and Kazakhstan.
But the three-time Grand Slam winner doesn’t want to get chosen at the cost of more higher-ranked players that are British.
“If I am selected I will play. I really don’t wish to play be selected just because four years ago I played extremely well,” Murray, who uttered Great Britain their first Davis Cup title since 1936 four decades back, said.
“The Davis Cup ought to be depending on who the best players are the very best players who provide us a chance of winning. I am not playing as well as Dan [Evans] and Kyle [Edmund] or even Cameron Norrie.
“Potentially doubles, I would like to help and be in the team and play singles but when I was asked to play doubles I’d likely do that.”
Murray also must decide if he decides to enter for tennis’ fresh ATP Cup – that launches on January 3.
Excellent Britain’s participation is dependent on Murray using his secure standing of world with the tournament scheduled just ahead of the Australian Open over two weeks.
“I have been somewhat unsure about this,” he explained.
“it is a team competition and if I’m not likely to play singles literally only a week to ten days before the Australian Open…The Australian Open is my priority”
